Take a journey with BALTIC Crew this Late Shows 2019, as you walk from BALTIC 39 down to BALTIC Gateshead, learning about the local history along the way. This Heritage Walking Tour will start with an introduction to BALTIC 39’s Grade II listed building, exploring its history as Ward’s Printing Warehouse. You’ll discover facts about High Bridge and Grey Street, before heading down to the Quayside, ending at BALTIC Gateshead.

BALTIC 39’s Studioholders will open their doors, inviting visitors to find out about their practice, whilst NewBridge Books will be open to allow you to browse art, design and photography publications, while enjoying a drink at the Pop-Up Bar. You’re also invited to join a Walking Heritage Tour, at 19.00, 20.00 & 21.00 which will end up at BALTIC, Gateshead.

(I get) So Emotional is programmed with curator and researcher Seán Elder and looks to the politics of emotions when situated between people, institutions and cultures. Emotion and affect have been considered through a multitude of perspectives historically with recent articulations emerging from a context of austerity and global socio-political crises.
Join us within the Ways of Learning exhibition at BALTIC 39 where photographer Phyllis Christopher and editor/writer Shar Rednour will discuss amusing anecdotes about the the day-to-day publishing of the first lesbian erotic magazine, On Our Backs, and will discuss their interest in developing a lesbian visual language using particularly lesbian fetishes.
