Everyone is welcome to drop into Quay, a learning space located on Level 2 at BALTIC. Open seven days a week, Quay is a fun and informal place where visitors can chat, rest and play. Find out more about BALTIC’s building and exhibitions through books, films and fun activities. The Quay space also showcases exhibitions by schools and community groups, as well as housing BALTIC’s Library and BALTIC TV.
Your Toddler Time; a free self-lead all day time for your under 5's to explore the world around them through imaginative play.
Wonder & Wander; a free mini tour for toddlers, exploring BALTIC's exhibitions through sensory play at 11.30.
Family Quest; a free mini tour for families with children aged 11 and under at 11.30.
Meet & Make, a free drop-in activity led by a BALTIC Artist at 14.00-16.00.
BALTIC's Sensory Room, a quiet space to play and explore, open every day in Quay.
Making station; make a flag at the back of Quay, inspired by Lubaina Himid’s Our Kisses are Petals. Think about words, colours, patterns and images that mean something special to illustrate your flag.
Green screen; transport yourself to an unusual world as you strike a pose in front of the green screen in Quay. This activity is inspired by Phil Collins’ exhibition Ceremony.
Den making; build a den using the kit in Quay. This activity takes inspiration from the giant dome that sits in the Idea of North exhibition.
JigsAudio; draw a picture and record an audio to share your vision with others. This activity has been created in partnership with Newcastle City Futures and Open Lab (Newcastle University).
