BALTIC worked in collaboration with The Comfrey Project to produce Making Connections, an exhibition of work by refugees and asylum seekers.
The Comfrey Project is a charity based in Gateshead which works with refugees and people seeking asylum, whose aim is to create a safe, welcoming environment through horticultural activities, and promote personal well-being through a sense of place and belonging. A down to earth approach to social integration and community health is encouraged.
Working with BALTIC artist Helen Pailing the group spent time making art, telling their stories and creating connections with others. The project culminated in a group exhibition, Making Connections, presented in Quay from 3 March – 26 April 2017.
